The Annual Trail Life USA New England Region Kodiak Derby is an exciting winter challenge course in which teams of Trailmen face off in a series of competitive events. Using their pre-built sleds, each team of Trailmen will rotate between challenge stations where a practical problem involving Trail Skills will be encountered.
Typical winter challenge stations Lashings, Fire-Building, Rope Rescue and Knot Tying, First Aid/Stretcher Race, Team Log Saw Race, Hatchet Throwing, Wilderness Survival, Cross-Country Sled Race, and Tug-of-War.
Second-Year Mountain Lions may attend this event if invited by the Navigators or Adventurers from their sending troop.
This is a very affordable event that offers varied levels of “roughing it” depending on each troops preparedness and capabilities. While most will “winter camp” in tents, there is an option for Lodge accomodations if desired.
The Base Rate of $20 per attendee covers the use of the facilities as well as a hot dinner on Saturday evening inside the Camp Dining Hall. Troops paying the Base Rate will prepare their own meals outdoors “camping style” for Saturday breakfast, lunch, and Sunday breakfast. A Meal Plan is offered for the other weekend meals from our Dining Hall.
